For the purpose of comparison to other food storage supplies, this Vegan 1 Year Food Supply provides one adult with 2000 calories per day for 365 days.

These food items will stay good for up to 25 years if stored at 35° to 70° F. Higher tempuratures will shorten the life of the food.

This primary food supply is for people wanting a healthy plant based food supply for emergencies or disasters. We have freeze dried meat and egg products available to suppliment this supply if you would like that. 

Vegan Food Supply for 1 year is for anyone wanting a safe, healthy, plant based food supply that you know will be there waiting for you when you need it most. With uncertain times ahead, having a healthy food supply for you and your family is one of the most important things you can do to prepare and provide for your family. All the money you may have saved will do you no good if no food is available to purchase. 

You can easily add to this supply individual items that you might like to have like fuits, vegetables, grains, meat, eggs, milk, etc. Simply browse our Supplementary Supplies section of our Food Storage menu and find the food items you want and add them to the cart.

This primary food supply of emergency food storage is for one person for one year or two people for six months. It provides the versatility of cooking your own meals by including baking and cooking staples.  You should keep on hand about two gallons of oil and be using and replacing it to keep it fresh. Coconut oil will keep the longest without going bad but is quite expensive.

The added 5 gal bucket is for storing and protecting the sprouting mix which comes in two mylar bags.

If you want to make bread, you can grind up the seven grain mix or the cracked grain cereal to make fresh flour. We have available (not included) a nice hand crank grain mill you might want to add to your emergency supplies. Don't forget to keep an extra can opener with your emergency supplies to open the cans.


Food in supply

What is a #10 can?

This is a large steel can that is 6.25 inches in diameter and 7 inches in height. The can will hold about 3 quarts (12 cups; 3/4 of a gallon; 2.8 liters). The cans are enameled to extend the shelf-life and protect the food. Cans contain an oxygen absorber to remove the oxygen which will deteriorate the food over time if not removed. This packet should discarded and not be eaten. It will not continue to absorb oxygen after you open the can the first time. Each can comes with a plastic lid for sealing the can after you use a can opener to remove the metal top.

How to prepare the food

The freeze dried vegetables can be prepared by placing food in a small pot with a little over twice the amount of water as food. Example: 1/2 cup of freeze dried broccoli and 1.1 cups of water. Heat the pot until it comes to a boil and remove from heat. Let cool for about  10-15 min. before serving. Freeze dried fruits can be eaten dry or placed in warm water for about 15 min.

Dried vegetables like the potato dices and vegetable stew blend will need to be soaked in water for 10 min., then brought to a boil. Boil in 4 times the amount of was to food. Example: 1/2 cup of dried stew to 2 cups of water. Simmer covered for about 10 min. or until tender. Dried fruits can be eaten dry or added to cereal before or after cooking.

Dry beans will need to be cooked before eating. To save on cooking fuel, we recommend soaking your beans over night in water. This causes beans to release enzymes that begin to break down their complex carbohydrates into simple sugars allowing faster cooking, better digestion, and less flatulent production.

After soaking beans, drain and rinse several times. Place beans in pot and add enough water to cover the beans by about an inch of water over them. Bring water to a boil and reduce heat and simmer for about 90 min. Test for softness. Simmer for another 30 min. testing every 10 min. until soft.

What is the difference between freeze dried and dried?

Freeze dried food has 98% of its water removed. Dried food has 95% of its water removed for vegetables and 80% for fruits. Freeze dried foods retain their original size, shape, color, taste, and texture. Dried foods are shriveled in size as the moisture is removed so they take up less space. Freeze dried foods rehydrate faster than dried foods do.
